Three Vermonters Appointed to the Vermont Commission on Women
Three Vermont women have been appointed to serve on the Vermont Commission on Women (VCW), the state’s non-partisan commission working to advance rights and opportunities for women and girls.
The Privatization of Medicare | League of Women Voters of Vermont
Dr. Marvin Malek, past president of Vermont Physicians for a National Health Program (VT PNHP), will give a presentation on the privatization of Medicare. The program, sponsored by the LWVVT, will take place at 5:30 pm, in the Hayes Room at Kellogg Hubbard Library in Montpelier. Dr. Malek will discuss Medicare Advantage, DCEs and the new ACO/REACH program. The event is cosponsored by VT PNHP, Vermont Health Care for All, and Vermont Workers' Center.
What Climate Change Means to You | League of Women Voters of Vermont
The panel, moderated by Sen. Kesha Ram Hinsdale, will focus on the social justice aspects of climate change. Panelists include Kashka Orlow, advocate and private consultant, participating with Vermont's Climate Council on the Just Transitions subcommittee addressing connections between social equity and climate issues; and Judy Dow, the executive director of Gedakina, a multigenerational organization that supports Indigenous youth, women and families across New England.
