The Vermont Commission on Women extends our deepest sympathies to all who have lost homes, pets, property, and livelihoods during the recent flooding. We have compiled a list of resources that may be of help to Vermonters in these extremely difficult times.

On June 21, 2023, the Vermont Commission on Women (VCW) voted to adopt a policy statement that supports transgender individuals in various ways.  

Developed by the Commission’s Health Equity Committee, the policy states: 
 

Happy Women’s History Month! From three women-serving organizations, we hope you will take some time to celebrate and recognize the women and girls in your life by getting involved in gender equity efforts actively happening here in Vermont. Check out our list of ten ways you can get engaged, choose one or more, and share with friends and family.

Every spring, a day comes around known as Equal Pay Day (or as we at the Vermont Commission on Women often like to refer to it, “UNequal Pay Day”). This is a symbolic day chosen to represent the point in the year to which women need to work in order to earn as much money as men earned the previous year.

Announced a few short weeks ago, a nursing home — one of four in Orleans County, in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom — will be closing in late March. 

Three Vermont women have been appointed to serve on the Vermont Commission on Women (VCW), the state’s non-partisan commission working to advance rights and opportunities for women and girls.

The Vermont Commission on Women seeks an energetic, skilled, and resourceful person who is dedicated to gender equity and social justice to join our tight-knit, highly collaborative team.

The Vermont Commission on Women and our partners join together on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Vermont Works for Women's Women Can Do career exploration conference returned in person to Vermont Technical College in Randolph this year!  Over 260 high school students from 12 of the 14 counties in Vermont spent the day exploring STEM and trades careers through hands-on activities and getting to know Vermont professionals, employers, and organizations. 

We  love staffing a table at this event because a: the Women Can Do energy and enthusiasm is contagious, and b: it's a chance to listen to and learn from students!

VCW Executive Director Cary Brown moderates this live and livestreamed event starting at 7 p.m. and featuring candidates Charity Clark (Democrat) and Michael Tagliavia (Republican).

Hosted by the League of Women Voters of Vermont, this event takes place at the beautiful St. Johnsbury Athenaeum and opens with an in-person meet and greet with the candidates at 6:30.  No registration is required for this event but seating is limited.
