Tomorrow, Wednesday morning, July 30th a hearing will take place in Vermont  Superior Court, Washington Civil Division in a case interpreting Vermont’s Equal Pay Act of 2002.  The case involves equal pay claims against the State of Vermont Department of Corrections and Department of Human Resources by three female workers who are paid thousands of dollars less than a male comparator for the same job.

The Vermont Commission on Women, in conjunction with several other organizations that are committed to pay equity, issued an Amicus brief in this case outlining why strict enforcement of Vermont’s Equal Pay Act is essential to over-coming entrenched wage disparities between men and women, why and how wage discrimination continues to take place, and how this legal remedy should function for Vermont women
