The goal of the Gay and Lesbian Fund of Vermont is to help reduce homophobia in Vermont by drawing attention to the positive, constructive contributions the LGBTQA community makes to the general community through charitable giving. The Gay and Lesbian Fund of Vermont also sponsors Out for Good, a program that coordinates volunteer support for non-profits. Out for Good brings LGBTQA volunteers together for fun projects and activities that benefit other non-profits through hard efforts and positive visibility.

The mission of Outright Vermont (ORVT) is to build safe, healthy, and supportive environments for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth. ORVT is one of the longest standing queer organizations in Vermont and the only one that works specifically with young people. By striving to empower queer youth, model positive cross-generational learning and leadership, and to address lateral oppressions including racism, classism, and heterosexism, ORVT is building a safer, healthier, and more supportive world for all young people. Outright Vermont provides many programs, including a drop-in center, youth group, transgroup, and camp outright.

Pride Center of Vermont (PCVT) is New England’s most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and the health and safety of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Vermonters. PCVT was started in 1999 by a group of Vermont students and became RU12? Community Center. Programs at PCVT include SafeSpace (for survivors of abuse or violence), GLAM (enhancing health and wellness of young bay, bi, trans men in Vermont through stigma-free HIV/STD testing and education, outreach events, and community building), Transpire (celebrating diverse gender identities and expressions and building community for transgender, intersex and gender non-conforming Vermonters), Momentum (for LGBTQ+ folks over 55), Flow (social program celebrating all women-aligned members of the LGBTQ+ community), Thrive (for Queer and Trans People of Colr) and programs for people with disabilities, families, elders and the transgender community. They offer a broad range of social groups, remarkably successful events, and a Center space that draws LGBTQ Vermonters from across the region. PCVT programs and services strive to meet the distinct socio-economic, health, and safety needs of Vermont’s LGBTQ community. Their drop-in resource center, community meeting spaces, 3,000-volume lending library, David Bohnett Cyber Center, and social events build community and create increased access to information and resources for all members. PCVT also houses the Vermont Queer Archives, preserving the proud history of fighting for some of the strongest and earliest LGBTQ rights in the country.

The mission of the Vermont Diversity Health Project (VDHP’s) is to improve the health and wellness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Vermonters by building bridges between health care providers and LGBTQ people throughout the state. We help patients identify friendly, supportive and effective healthcare providers, and we offer training and support to enhance providers’ skill in working with LGBTQ people.

This Vermont state commission conducts impartial investigations of discrimination complaints and provides information and training on civil rights laws.

GLMA was founded in 1981, as the American Association of Physicians for Human Rights, with the mission of ensuring equality in healthcare for LGBT individuals and healthcare professionals. Today, there is still considerable ignorance about LGBT health issues, with many assuming that LGBT health involves only HIV/AIDS. In fact, the full scope of the LGBT health agenda includes breast and cervical cancer, hepatitis, mental health, substance abuse, tobacco use, depression, access to care for transgender persons and other concerns.
