The Privatization of Medicare | League of Women Voters of Vermont

On Thursday, March 30 Dr. Marvin Malek, past president of Vermont Physicians for a National Health Program (VT PNHP), will give a presentation on the privatization of Medicare.  The program, sponsored by the LWVVT, will take place at 1:00 pm, at the Barre Area Senior Center, 131 South Main Street, Barre.  Dr. Malek will discuss Medicare Advantage, DCEs and the new ACO/REACH program.  The event is cosponsored by VT PNHP, Vermont Health Care for All, Vermont State Employees' Association, and Vermont Workers' Center.

Former State Representative, Kiah Morris, was first elected in 2014 as the only black female member of the Vermont House. She had to resign in 2018 following months of online harassment that then escalated into her physical world. Through it all, Kiah has continued to be a vocal advocate for justice system reforms that protect all women.

Online public forum: The Future of Incarceration for Women in Vermont

The Vermont Commission on Women and our partners join together on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. to host an online, public forum about the future of incarceration for women in Vermont. This discussion is specifically intended for those who are not currently in the legislature or working for the Department of Corrections, and will provide opportunities to:

- Voice the questions and concerns of those outside of DOC who are working most closely with incarcerated women

Attorney General Candidate Forum Hosted By League of Women Voters of VT

The League of Women Voters of Vermont will host an in-person Candidates Forum for Attorney General on Thursday, September 29 at St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, 1171 Main Street, from 7:00-8:30 pm. A meet-and-greet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Candidates participating in the Forum are Charity Clark, (Democrat) and Michael Tagliavia (Republican). Cary Brown, Executive Director of the Vermont Commission on Women, will serve as moderator.

Lieutenant Governor Candidate Forum Hosted by League of Women Voters of VT

Next Wednesday, September 21st at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, the League of Women Voters of Vermont presents an in-person Candidates Forum for the office of Lieutenant Governor from 7:00-8:30 pm, with a meet-and-greet scheduled for 6:30 p.m.  VCW is excited to be a cosponsor for this important and informative event!
