Jennie Gartner of Rutland Reappointed to State Women’s Commission
(Montpelier) - Governor Peter Shumlin has reappointed Jennie Gartner of Rutland to serve a second term on the Vermont Commission on Women.
Commissioner Gartner is a resident of Rutland and has been a social studies teacher at Rutland High School (RHS) since 2005. She holds a BS in Journalism from Boston University and a M.Ed in Secondary Education from UMass-Boston. She is a past participant in the Teaching American History program at Castleton State College, and the lead faculty advisor to the Gay/Straight Alliance at Rutland High School.
Commissioner Gartner has been active in issues of importance to women and families since she was a teenager, and sees her role on the VCW as a natural extension of this work. "I am thrilled to continue my work with the Vermont Commission on Women," said Gartner. "Its mission is of such importance to families around Vermont and the country at large." Gartner would like to focus on the issue of expanding vocational educational opportunities for Vermont's young women.
Gartner is honored to serve the women of Vermont and invites Rutland area residents to contact her about issues they face at firstname.lastname@example.org.
